Features
PGX® (PolyGlycopleX®) is a highly viscous combination of water soluble polysaccharides
derived from konjac root, sodium alginate, and xantham gum. Viscous fibers have been shown to reduce postprandial glucose concentrations and lower total and LDL-cholesterol, primarily by forming a gel matrix which slows gastric emptying. Clinical trials have shown that in addition to the benefits of glucose and lipid reduction, highly viscous fibers were found to lower insulin secretion and C-peptide in response to carbohydrate meals, and to lower serum fructosamine, a marker of glycemic control. PGX‘s viscosity is greater than other known
sources of soluble fiber, allowing for easier dosing and greater efficacy for its diverse benefits.
Mulberry has been combined in this formula for both its hypoglycemic effects, as well as its benefit for lipid profiles. A clinical trial with mulberry powder found it to significantly suppress elevation of postprandial blood glucose and secretion of insulin, likely by inhibiting carbohydrate absorption. It reduced fasting glucose levels more than glibenclamide treatment, and also decreased the concentration of serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL cholesterol, while increasing HDL cholesterol.
Benefits
- Each distinct two-toned softgel contains 800 mg of PGX®
- Helps to prevent diabetic neuropathy damage
- In the digestive tract, inhibits complex carbohydrates, starches, maltose and sucrose from breaking down into highly absorbable glucose molecules
- Support for healthy weight loss
- Mulberry extract has been shown to lower serum cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and slow the progression of atherosclerosis in animals
- Medium chain triglycerides (MCT) help increase metabolism and may help improve blood-glucose-related disorders such as diabetes
- Excellent source of dietary fiber

Dosage
Start with 1–2 softgels per meal and slowly build up to the recommended dose of 3–6 softgels per meal. For best results take PGX® softgels before meals with a glass (8 fl. oz.) of water, or as directed by a health care professional.
Indications: Use PGX® as part of your diet to support healthy glucose and cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range. PGX® Ultra Matrix Softgels Plus Mulberry helps to lower the glycemic index of your meals, contributing to healthy glucose metabolism and body composition.
Notice: A small percentage of people may initially experience minor digestive changes when taking PGX®. Slowly work up to the full dose to give your body time to adjust. It is important to drink a glass of water when taking PGX®.
Contraindications
Those with a known allergy to any of the components should avoid it. Individuals at risk for intestinal obstruction, such as those with systemic sclerosis, should increase fiber intake with caution. While no specific contraindications exist or are predicted, data is lacking for use during pregnancy, lactation, and in children, and the dosage may need to be reduced for those less than 18.
Anyone, including seniors, who have bowel obstruction problems should check with their health care professional before taking PGX®. Seniors with constipation and other bowel disorders may want to start with 1/4 of the recommended dose and gradually work up to a full dose as tolerated. Always be sure to drink lots of water with each serving.
Additional Information
Drug Interactions: A reduction in serum glucose concentrations by PGX may require a lowering of the dosage of any antidiabetic medications, and serum glucose should be monitored closely to prevent hypoglycemia. Oral medications may need to be taken one hour prior or two hours after PGX, to prevent a reduction in their absorption. Similarly, fat-soluble vitamins should be taken separately.
