Most of you have probably heard of neural therapy. Neural therapy is a treatment modality developed in Germany over the last 75 years and addresses dysfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System. It treats various conditions by injecting medication into nerve sites, acupuncture points, scars, muscle trigger points and other tissues to relieve pain and dysfunction throughout the body. The injection solution can contain specific homeopathic preparations, chelating agents, vitamins and/or local anesthetics.

Dr. Ara Elmajian who is a biological dentist in Vancouver took this therapy one step further and developed a procedure he coined I.O.N.T. According to Dr. Elmajian, I.O.N.T is an injection of procaine with various homotoxicological and sanum remedies directly into the interior of the jaw bone.

I.O.N.T. can be used as a conservative treatment for jaw bone infections versus cavitation surgery. It is also used to treat the sensitivity of a tooth following the trauma of a large restoration or cementation of a crown which could prevent the inevitability of a root canal.

Another interesting application of I.O.N.T. is it can be used in conjunction with meridian tooth points to determine if there is a dental disturbance field in relation to and affecting a specific organ. For example, each tooth is related to an acupuncture meridian which is related to various organs, tissues and glands in the body on this particular meridian. If a person has a weak internal organ, the condition of the associated meridian tooth could make it considerably more problematic. If a disturbance is diagnosed then a specific treatment plan can be implemented according.
